The Information Technology Governance Committee (ITGC)
approved the implementation of recommendations made by the
Desktop/Laptop Computer Standards Committee for desktop/laptop
computer standards. This policy became effective April
1, 2002. These pages are here to inform the university
community about the university standards and numerous
available options and upgrades.
The standards include
both Windows and Macintosh platforms. There is at least
one desktop and one laptop model available for each platform.
Standards allow ETSU
to provide better and more efficient support for the university,
efficient acquisition, and the most cost-effective pricing
available.
These standards have
been developed to meet the needs of the majority of university
computing users. Those who have special needs can request
a variance from the standards. Requests for a variance
must be included with the purchase requisition.
OIT will also be
available to assist with your configuration needs.
If you have any questions about these standards,
please review the Frequently Asked
Questions, contact the OIT helpdesk at oithelp@mail.etsu.edu,
or call 94648.
