A quick look back at the fall 2013 semester reveals another term of academic excellence and achievement by ETSU's Roan Scholars. From freshman to senior, Scholars picked up right where they ended the 2012-2013 academic year– finishing the fall with an overall GPA of 3.68, topped by the senior class, which led the way with an average GPA of 3.80.
Individually, 45% of all Roan Scholars earned Dean's List honors by achieving a GPA of 3.7 or higher, and 25% of all Scholars posted a perfect 4.0 GPA. Those percentages almost exactly matched the spring 2013 semester, and marked a slight improvement over fall 2012's performance.
"The Roan Program is about character, excellence, and impact," said Scott Jeffress, the Roan Director. "Our Scholars' consistently outstanding academic performance demonstrates their commitment to excellence in the classroom, and is indicative of a great deal of hard work and focus – every day. Beyond the numbers, though, it's great to see Roan Scholars applying what they're learning in the classroom, in their daily lives – in student organizations and other leadership positions, community service opportunities, part-time jobs, internships, study abroad experiences . . . truly impressive."
With the spring term now underway, look for more of the same from this group of outstanding student leaders.
