Linda is currently serving a 4th term on the Senate. Her first term began in 1997 which continued through 2000. She served as treasurer during the 1999-2000 term. Linda notes that she feels very privileged to have been reelected to the Senate in 2004 and even more so honored in being elected to serve two terms as member-at-large from 2007-2009. Her current committee involvement includes the Holiday Drive and the Committee on Staff Elections for which she is chair.
Linda is a life-time resident of Washington County, Tennessee, and was a student in the first graduating class of Daniel Boone High School (1972), Gray, TN. She is still very much a Blazer fan and a Gamecock (Sulphur Springs School where she was enrolled all but the last year of her pre-college days) fan. She is a profound football fan and attends Boone High School games; she also enjoys watching the UT Volunteers, Tennessee Titans, and Indianapolis Colts play as much as possible.
Linda is a current member of Bowmantown Baptist Church where she
plays the organ or piano during services. She also enjoys
singing in her church choir. She loves children and enjoys
teaching preschoolers in Sunday School and TeamKids. Her
family is very important to her. She married Steve Greenwell
(an ETSU University Center employee) in September 1979. They
enjoy two daughters: Angela and Stephanie. Angela is a
2006 magna cum laude graduate of ETSU with a degree in Early
Childhood Education and a current graduate student at ETSU studying
Elementary Education. Stephanie is an ETSU senior pursuing a
degree in K-6 Education with a math add-on. Some of the
activities Linda enjoys are listening to music, reading and crafts.
