If you haven't taken a test in the CFAA before, please familiarize yourself with our policies regarding electronic devices, prohibited items, and prohibited clothing, etc., at (Student Guidelines for Course Testing).

... Taking the CCTST (Senior Exit Exam)?

The CCTST (California Critical Thinking Skills Test), the assessment formerly know as the ETSU Senior Exit Exam, is offered on most days that Testing Services is open. Go here for more information about the CCTST itself and what types of questions you can expect. To make an appointment to take the CCTST, go to and select ETSU Senior Exit, CCTST.

Information on specific tests can be found here: Standardized Tests. Important: see our prohibited items policies below.

... Taking a Non-ETSU Test that Requires Testing Center Proctoring?

Cell Phone Policy

Due to our relationship with test security company Pro-Metric and various testing companies that utilize their computer-based testing systems, we are required to follow their extremely strict policies regarding cell phones and other restricted items whenever students are taking standardized, nationally-available computer-based tests in Testing Services. The following statement, taken from the website of the Educational Testing Service, the company that administers the GRE, SAT, ACT, Praxis, and many other standardized tests clients take in Testing Services, is one that we enforce for any students taking a test in our small, secure CBT (Computer-Based Testing) room:

Cell phones, smartphones, smart watches, and any other electronic, photographic, scanning, listening or recording devices are not permitted at the test center. If you bring such devices to the test center, you will be dismissed from the test, your test fees will be forfeited and your scores will be canceled. If you are seen ACCESSING such a device for any reason, in addition to the above conditions, the device will be confiscated and inspected. Test center staff are not permitted to collect or store devices.*

Note that we are not permitted to keep or watch your phone during a test. If you do come into Testing Services to take a test in our CBT room and you have a phone with you, you will be asked to take it back to your car or room. Testing staff cannot watch your phone. In addition, tutoring staff members at the CFAA front desk, which is directly adjacent to Testing Services, are not permitted to hold or watch your phone while you take a test, as what is considered the "test center" includes the entire first floor of Sherrod Library due to the only accessible bathrooms and water fountain being in the main first floor lobby of the building.

Guidelines for Course Testing (e.g. your exams in BIOL 1110, your quizzes in Anatomy, Senior Exit, etc.) are somewhat less strict, but there are still several important restrictions.
