The PianoFest Pre-College competition is divided into age categories based on age of student as of March 1, 2016. The Jury will consist of ETSU Piano faculty members as well as other renowned pianists.

  • 9 and under: Perform two memorized pieces of different styles, total time no longer than 7 minutes.
  • 10-12: Perform two memorized pieces of different styles, total time no longer than 10 minutes.
  • 13-15: Perform three memorized pieces of different styles, total time no longer than 15 minutes.
  • 16-18: Perform three memorized pieces of different styles, total time no longer than 15 minutes.

All winners will be given a masterclass session Saturday afternoon. Winners will also have the opportunity to perform at the final Victor Borge concert with ETSU piano majors on Sunday, March 20. Age category prizes will be awarded along with a grand prize chosen out of the winners of each age category.

  • 9 and under: Winner to receive certificate and $30 prize money.
  • 10-12: Winner to receive certificate and $30 prize money.
  • 13-15: Winner to receive certificate and $50 prize money.
  • 16-18: Winner to receive certificate and $50 prize money.
  • Grand Prize: The winner (from any age category) will receive a certificate and $100.
