Add on Endorsement

Already a Teacher?

Teachers who currently hold a valid Tennessee teaching license may add on an endorsement in the following areas:

  • K-12Modified Special Education (Mild Disabilities) [460]
    • This program is designed for individuals seeking add-on licensure in Modified Special Education or wanting to enhance their knowledge of High Incidence Disabilities. This program mirrors the add-on requirements while also earning a certificate. Students should follow the Entrance and Exit Requirements on the add-on sheet if earning an add-on. All applicable course credits can be transferred into the Special Education Master’s program if admitted.
  • K-12Comprehensive Special Education (Severe Disabilities) [461]
    • This program is designed for individuals seeking add-on licensure in Comprehensive Special Education or wanting to enhance their knowledge of Low Incidence Disabilities. This program mirrors the add-on requirements while also earning a certificate. Students should follow the Entrance and Exit Requirements on the add-on sheet if earning an add-on. All applicable course credits can be transferred into the Special Education Master’s program if admitted.
  • Pre-K-3Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) [465]
    • This program is designed for individuals seeking add-on licensure in Early Childhood Special Education or wanting to enhance their knowledge of young children with disabilities. This program mirrors the add-on requirements while also earning a certificate. Students should follow the Entrance and Exit Requirements on the add-on sheet if earning an add-on. All applicable course credits can be transferred into the Special Education Master’s program if admitted.
