Logging into D2L for the First Time
1. Go to https://elearn.etsu.edu
2. Login:
Your D2L login is your ETSU login username and password.
The first time you use your account, it will need to be activated by going to http://www.etsu.edu/activate. Follow the instructions listed for ETSU passwords. If you’ve already logged into your ETSU account, you won’t need to activate your password.
Username: Enter your username
Password: Then enter your password which is the same as for your Goldmail account.
You will be able to find your courses under the “My East Tennessee State University Courses” pane in the middle of your screen. Click the plus (+) sign beside the current semester to expand your course menu if you don’t see your courses.

For faculty, several refinements have been added to make your online teaching experience more user-friendly.
Some of the notable updates include:
- Improved Content navigation
- Gradable Discussions
- Easier dropbox navigation
- More user-friendly gradebook setup
- Spreadsheet view of gradebook to make entering grades more convenient
The office of eLearning will be posting tutorials on the new enhancements. In the meantime, faculty wishing additional instruction are encouraged to attend our workshops.
