Definition   

Employees in this class are under immediate supervision. Work performed in executing routine manual and/or simple clerical work in the receipt and issuance of items, materials, and commodities and performing related work as required. 

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

Checks materials and supplies against invoices, bills, shipping papers, and purchase orders.

Receives stock and places it in its proper place in the storeroom.

Fills simple requisitions for supplies.

Takes inventories and posts and maintains records.

Informs supervisor when stock needs replenishing.

Reports and guards against any deterioration and/or damage to storeroom or contents.

Cleans, dusts and arranges stock.

Keeps records and makes reports.

Performs other work as assigned. 

Required Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of basic arithmetic.

Knowledge of filing procedures.

Knowledge of elementary storekeeping methods and procedures.

Ability to make arithmetic computations and tabulations accurately.

Ability to maintain accurate inventory records.

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees. 

Recommended Qualifications

Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Graduation from a standard high school.
