College Awarded Full Accreditation

Class of 2010

Saturday, May 8, 2010, was an important date in the history of the Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy at East Tennessee State University. Sixty-six students representing the Class of 2010 walked across the stage and received their Pharm.D. degrees from President Paul E. Stanton, Jr. It is impossible to thank all of the individuals and organizations that made that day possible. Progressing from an “idea” in 2004 to graduating our first class in 2010 was nothing short of amazing. The “Prescription for Success” event on Thursday, the Hooding Ceremony on Friday and culminating with Commencement on Saturday resulted in a truly memorable week in the history of our College.

Members of the class of 2011 have completed their didactic work and are currently participating in their Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience.  Their Hooding Ceremony, scheduled for Friday, May 6, 2011, will be here before they know it. Also, the Class of 2014 has been identified and actively planning to arrive on campus for orientation the first week of August.

The College was awarded full accreditation during the June 23-27, 2010 meeting of the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education Board of Directors.  I’m so proud of the energy and initiative shown by the faculty and staff in the progression of the Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy to this point in its development.  Students of the College are also to be commended for their support and flexibility in getting the College to this point. The Admissions Committee has truly done a masterful job in identifying the first five classes in the history of the College.  ETSU graduates will certainly make the University proud as they enter the pharmacy workforce.

Thank you for visiting the College’s website. During the next few months, you will notice some significant changes as we strive to make this site more interactive and usable.  Please feel free to contact the College any time if you have any questions about our program.
