Oboe Recital
JOHNSON CITY (Feb. 7, 2018) – Oboist and soprano Dr. Kristin Leitterman will present a Guest Artist Recital of instrumental and vocal works at East Tennessee State University on Saturday, Feb. 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the Mathes Hall auditorium.
During her program, Leitterman will perform music for the oboe from the 19th century, including works by Kalliwoda, Paladilhe, Godard and Daelli.
Also on Feb. 17, she will present a master class at 4 p.m., in the same location, titled “The Artist-Entrepreneur: Shaping a Career in the Arts.” In this presentation, she will discuss goal-setting; journaling about practice, lessons and other life events; time management; and other aspects of developing a career in the arts.
Leitterman defies convention as a solo artist of oboe and voice and brings unique programs to audiences. She commissions works for oboe/voice by such composers as Jason Coleman, MuXuan Lin and Lyle Davidson.
Leitterman is an assistant professor of double reeds and directs the Double Reed Ensemble at Auburn University. She is also the director of the Lucarelli Oboe Master Class, a week-long, immersive oboe master class held annually during the Music Mountain Summer Music Festival in Falls Village, Connecticut.
She holds degrees from the City University of New York’s Graduate Center, Hartt School, New England Conservatory and University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance.
Both the concert and master class are open to the public. Donations will be accepted to go toward Reed Day in the ETSU Department of Music, which will be held March 31 in Mathes Hall.
