Brain Injury Conference
JOHNSON CITY – “Recovering from Brain Injury: Finding the Intersection of Neuroplasticity Research and Evidence-Based Rehabilitation Practices” is the focus of the 12th annual Intermountain Brain Injury Conference to be held Friday, April 13.
Sponsored by the East Tennessee State University Office of Professional Development, the conference will take place from 7:30 a.m.-4:45 p.m. at the Millennium Centre.
Speakers and their topics include Dr. Allison Bourassa of the ETSU Department of Physical Therapy, “Maximize Recovery by Embracing Brain Plasticity”; Courtney Andrews of the ETSU Department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology, “Evidence-based Approaches to Improving the Course of Recovery Following Brain Injury”; and Dr. Eric Roth of Roth Neuropsychology, “How Neuroplasticity Research and Evidence-based Practices Guide Emotional and Behavioral Recovery Following Brain Injury.”
The conference fee of $125 ($55 for college students with ID) covers a continental breakfast, lunch and breaks. General continuing education units and American Speech-Language-Hearing Association continuing education hours are available.
Co-sponsors of the conference are the departments of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology and Physical Therapy in ETSU’s College of Clinical and Rehabilitative Health Sciences and the Department of Health Services Management and Policy in ETSU’s College of Public Health, along with Roth Neuropsychology and Behavioral Health Associates, The Crumley House Brain Injury Rehabilitation Center, the Milligan College Department of Occupational Therapy and HealthSouth/Quillen Rehabilitation.
