'Twist of Faith'
KINGSPORT – The 2017-18 season finale for the Symphony of the Mountains, “Twist of Faith,” will be held Saturday, April 7, at 7:30 p.m. at the Toy F. Reid Eastman Employee Center in Kingsport.
During this program, the symphony will be joined by the East Tennessee State University Chorale, along with Voices of the Mountains, the Milligan College Concert Choir and the Highlands Youth Ensemble in the performance of “Requiem for the Living.”
At their core, requiems are prayers for rest typically reserved for funerals, but this piece by Dan Forrest creates a twist on the traditional form, as its musical narrative is just as relevant for the living and their daily struggles. The ethereal piece uses modern-day inspirations to create a contemporary version of traditional prayers.
The program also includes works by J.S. Bach, Gustav Holst and Felix Mendelssohn.
Tickets are $30 for general admission and free for students and children, and may be purchased by calling the Symphony of the Mountains box office at 423-392-8423 or visiting www.symphonyofthemountains.org. Tickets will also be available at the door.
