Alumni Awards Banquet
JOHNSON CITY – Tickets are available for the East Tennessee State University National Alumni Association’s 2018 Awards Banquet and Annual Meeting, which will be held Friday, May 4.
The celebration will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Millennium Centre.
ETSU President Dr. Brian Noland will provide an update on the university, and a select group of distinguished ETSU alumni and friends will be honored. This year’s award recipients include Pamela Prince-Eason (’85), president and CEO, Women’s Business Enterprise National Council, Outstanding Alumna, and Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Ronald V. Hite (’64), Outstanding Alumnus. Awards of Honor will be presented to Commissioner David W. Purkey (’81), Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security; Melissa Steagall-Jones (’91), Blackburn, Childers and Steagall; and Commissioner Kevin R. Triplett (’87), Tennessee Department of Tourist Development. Joseph L. Trujillo, Johnson City Honda, will be named an Honorary Alumnus.
Special recognition will also be given to the reunion class of 1968 and other members of the university’s Golden Fifties Club.
The ETSU National Alumni Association, the university’s longest-operating organization of graduates and former students, was created in 1915. The gathering of alumni on the evening before spring Commencement dates back to a candlelight ceremony to welcome the Class of 1929 diplomats in preparation for their graduation.
