Regional Nursing Preceptor Conference
JOHNSON CITY (May 24, 2018) – The East Tennessee State University Regional Nursing Preceptor Conference: “Developing a Quality Education Experience” will be held at the Millennium Centre on Friday and Saturday, June 15-16.
The conference is sponsored by the ETSU Office of Professional Development in conjunction with the university’s College of Nursing and the SPADES (Student and Preceptor Advancement in a Designated Education Site) Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Advanced Nursing Education Program (ANEP) grant.
Topics will be applicable to all nurses with varying backgrounds and educational levels, including LPNs, RNs, APNs and nurse educators, as well as nursing preceptors and current nursing students. The conference is appropriate for nursing professionals in both practice and academic settings.
Three keynote speakers are scheduled to address participants.
David McClaskey is president of the Pal’s Business Excellence Institute, which teaches proven, world-class performance excellence practices, with special emphasis on courses teaching the Malcolm Baldrige Award-winning management practices of Pal’s Sudden Service. McClaskey frequently gives talks and teaches seminars on quality management around the United States and internationally.
Carolyn Buppert is a health care attorney whose legal clients include medical practices, institutions, non-profit organizations and individual clinicians throughout the U.S.
Dr. Solimar Figueroa, a clinical educator, has 33 years of experience in professional nursing practice in the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Canada and the U.S. She has held a variety of positions, including operating room nurse, director of nursing, chief nursing officer and assistant director of nursing. She also serves continually as a preceptor specialist.
The course registration fee is $75, which covers both days and includes continuing nursing education (CNE) credits.
