'Schubert String Quintet'
JOHNSON CITY – East Tennessee State University Department of Music faculty and guest artists will perform “The Celebrated Schubert String Quintet in C Major, D. 956” and other masterworks of chamber music for strings in a recital on Friday, Sept. 7.
The quintet includes ETSU faculty members Drs. David Kováč and Sean Hawthorne. Kováč is an assistant professor of viola and violin and leads the strings program in the Department of Music. Hawthorne is a newly appointed assistant professor of cello.
Guest artists include internationally renowned Czech cellist Daniel Veis and violinists Dr. Miroslav Hristov of the University of Tennessee-Knoxville music faculty and Peter Povey, who teaches at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.
The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Brown Hall auditorium (room 112) on the ETSU campus. Admission is free; suggested donations of $10 for adults or $5 for students will be accepted.
