Family Weekend
JOHNSON CITY (Sept. 7, 2018) – Families of East Tennessee State University students are invited to campus Sept. 21-23 for a fun-filled Family Weekend.
This annual event allows families to visit their students, stay connected to ETSU and explore Johnson City. Highlights include a Welcome Reception, a Family Weekend Tailgate and a Sunday brunch.
This year’s Family Weekend features greater partnership with Johnson City, starting with the Welcome Reception at the Amphitheatre at Founders Park in downtown Johnson City on Friday, Sept. 21, from 6-8 p.m. Participants may drop by to pick up a Family Weekend schedule and enjoy appetizers, as well as meet ETSU Student Affairs staff who can answer questions and get to know members of students’ families. Attendees may also enjoy free music by The Funky Truth as part of the ongoing “Founders After 5” concert series at the park.
The Family Weekend Tailgate will be Saturday, Sept. 22, at 4 p.m. on the front lawn of the Wayne G. Basler Center for Physical Activity (CPA) on the ETSU campus. Participants may hang out with students, faculty, staff and alumni while preparing for the ETSU football game vs. Furman, which kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Student tickets to the game are free and are available online. Public tickets are available by visiting ETSUBucs.com or calling the ticket office at 423-439-ETSU (3878).
The Family Weekend Brunch will be held Sunday, Sept. 23, from 10 a.m.-noon at the CPA courtyard. Dr. Brittney Ezell, head coach of the ETSU Buccaneer women’s basketball team, will be the guest speaker.
