'Five Alive!'
KINGSPORT (Oct. 26, 2018) – East Tennessee State University’s contemporary a cappella ensembles, Greyscale, SwashBucklers and Harmonium, as well as Dobyns-Bennett High School’s Armonia and Duly Noted, will present a concert titled “Five Alive!” on Friday, Nov. 2, at 7:30 p.m. at the Kingsport Renaissance Theatre.
Greyscale’s music incorporates a blend of pop, jazz and contemporary a cappella. SwashBucklers and Harmonium are student-led men’s and women’s groups, respectively, that perform a variety of musical styles.
Dobyns-Bennett’s Armonia is a mixed a cappella group that started out by mimicking Pentatonix videos and has now become a Voices in Harmony Award-winning group, and Duly Noted is a women’s a cappella group.
Greyscale performs under the direction of Dr. Alan Stevens, associate professor and associate director of choral activities in the ETSU Department of Music. SwashBucklers is directed by Gianni Loepke and Harmonium by Holly Wilcoxson. Armonia and Duly Noted are directed by Dobyns-Bennett’s Choral Music Teacher Jenny Rogers and Choral Assistant Patty Denmark, respectively.
Greyscale will also release its newest album, “Five Alive,” at the concert. “Five Alive,” along with the first two albums, the self-titled “Greyscale” and “Spectrum,” are available on all major digital distributors, including iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, Google Music and more.
