Social Work info sessions
ABINGDON, Virginia – East Tennessee State University’s Department of Social Work will host two information sessions at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center in Abingdon, Virginia, on its bachelor’s and master’s degree programs.
A Master of Social Work Information Session will be held Thursday, Nov. 15, from 5-7 p.m. Attendees will learn about the educational foundation needed for careers in social work, including the educational requirements to begin supervision toward the licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) designation post-graduation.
The M.S.W. program begins in May 2019, and the application deadline is Feb. 28. Classes are offered one afternoon/evening per week at the Abingdon location. The part-time traditional M.S.W. program can be completed in three years; the advanced standing program can be completed in two years.
A Bachelor of Social Work Information Session will be held Tuesday, Nov. 27, from 6-8 p.m. The session will cover the educational foundation needed for diverse careers in the field of social work.
The B.S.W. program begins in August 2019 and requires 21 months to complete. The full-time program is offered with both in-person and online components, with students taking academic courses the first year and completing an internship the second year, along with classes. The suggested application deadline is Feb. 28.
All students enrolled in these Abingdon programs qualify for Tennessee in-state tuition rates regardless of legal residency.
Attendance at the information sessions is free. The Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center is located at 1 Partnership Circle, Abingdon.
