Dr. Beth Anne Fox appointed Associate Dean of the Quillen College of Medicine and Chief of Staff for the Office of the Dean
Dr. Beth Anne Fox has been appointed Associate Dean of the Quillen College of Medicine
and Chief of Staff for the Office of the Dean. She was named to the current role
by Interim Dean of Medicine Dr. William A. Block.
Dr. Fox is a 1998 graduate of Quillen and she completed her family medicine residency at ETSU in 2000. She has served as a faculty member in the Department of Family Medicine for the past 15 years and currently holds the rank of Professor. Her leadership roles in the department have included serving as Vice Chair and as Program Director of the Kingsport Family Medicine Residency Program.
She has focused much of her academic career on public health and education. She is a nationally recognized family physician in the use of simulation in medical education, and she has served as a member of an ad hoc committee for the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine to assist family medicine programs in the implementation of milestone resident progression.
In addition to serving on numerous committees in the College of Medicine and at Holston Valley within the Ballad Health System, she has served as the 2015 President of the Tennessee Academy of Family Physicians and currently has an appointment to the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) Commission on Health of the Public and Science. The commission supports all four AAFP objectives: payment reform, practice transformation, family medicine workforce and clinical expertise.
Dr. Fox has obtained additional training including a Master’s in Public Health with a concentration in healthcare administration, and she has attained the designation of Certified Physician Executive (CPE).
She brings to the role expertise in graduate and undergraduate medical education, interprofessional education and team training, as well as faculty development and rural community outreach. Her skills will assist in advancing the mission and vision of the college. She will continue to provide clinical care within the Department of Family Medicine.
