2017 Sylvio Residence
Sophomore Studio this semester explored various issues in residential design. Their final project was to design a home for a family of middle-eastern decent. This is to be a custom home that meets the needs of a handicapped grandmother and include a prayer room. One of the great learning experiences is that ETSU middle-eastern students were invited to help the design students understand their culture so the home can perfectly meet their needs. Design students learned to be sensitive to cultural needs and the guests learned that design can make their homes a better place to live, care for their elderly and worship.
