2017 Freshmen students learn about wall construction

The first exercise of the freshmen studio course is to learn about basic wall construction by building a full-size wall.  Students measured, cut and assembled a wood stud wall so they learned about all the parts of a basic wall.  This basic construction knowledge is then used in their first project appropriately names, “Walls” where they use walls to direct visitors through a view pavilion in the Imperial Gardens in Kyoto, Japan.
