Dr. Arsham Alamian, Associate Professor in the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at East Tennessee State University’s College of Public Health, has been invited to serve as an Associate Editor for BMC Public Health

“I am honored to have been invited by the Editor of BMC Public Health to serve as an Associate Editor for the Chronic Disease Epidemiology section of the journal," said Dr. Alamian. "I am grateful that my long term voluntary service to this journal to conduct peer review of manuscripts by meeting the highest standards of peer review process has been recognized. BMC Public Health is an important journal in the field of public health and one where I encourage my colleagues and students to publish to gain worldwide recognition."

BMC Public Health is an open access, peer-reviewed journal that considers articles on the epidemiology of disease and the understanding of all aspects of public health. The journal has a special focus on the social determinants of health, the environmental, behavioral, and occupational correlates of health and disease, and the impact of health policies, practices and interventions on the community.

Dr. Alamian's research focuses on chronic disease risk factors and their clustering among vulnerable populations. He is leading a multidisciplinary team of researchers and students on the studies of metabolic syndrome and multiple risk behaviors at ETSU. Dr. Alamian is also co-investigator on an inter-professional grant from the National Institute on Drug Abuse to address prescription drug abuse and misuse in Appalachia.
