Dr. Tim Attebery Joins College MHA Faculty
Dr. Tim Attebery, former chief executive officer of the American College of Cardiology, has joined the East Tennessee State University College of Public Health Department of Health Services Management and Policy as adjunct faculty.
Dr. Amal Khoury, department chair, stated, “Tim is a long-term friend of our college. Over the years, he has contributed time and expertise to our programs and students -- guest lectured in courses, served as preceptor for student interns, served on Professional Advisory Committee, and supported our professional and career development programs.”
With the launch of the Master in Health Administration program this spring, Dr. Attebery will strengthen the program’s faculty complement, and his practice experience and professional connections will be invaluable to students both within and outside the classroom.
“We are excited to have Dr. Attebery on board,” continued Dr. Khoury, “and look forward to working with him as we roll out the MHA program and establish it as the leading program in graduate health administration education in the region and beyond.”
Dr. Tim Attebery, DSc, MBA, FACHE, serves as a consultant and strategic advisor to healthcare organizations including life-science and digital health companies, hospitals and health systems, medical groups, and a “critical care hospital at home” operation. Before starting his own consulting firm, Dr. Attebery was the CEO of the American College of Cardiology. He was instrumental in the initial founding of MedAxiom and the Society of Cardiovascular CT. He has authored/co-authored numerous published articles on hospital mergers, strategic planning, advanced cardiac imaging, emerging healthcare services, and healthcare IT.
“Dr. Attebery brings almost unprecedented real-world and practical experience to our students,” stated Dr. Randy Wykoff, dean of the college. “He is an exceptional, nationally-recognized leader, and we are incredibly fortunate to have him as a member of our faculty.”
Prior to the American College of Cardiology, Dr. Attebery served as the President/CEO of Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee, and as the System Vice-President of Cardiovascular Services for Wellmont Health System and CEO of Cardiovascular Associates.
