Alumna Brooke Beasley Honored at Tulane University
Brooke Beasley, 2019 graduate of the East Tennessee State University College of Public Health’s Bachelor of Health Sciences degree, received Honors in Physiology for the Physiology Graduate Program at Tulane University. She finished with a 4.0 grade point average in her courses for the entire academic year.
The Physiology Graduate Program at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA has developed a Master’s program specifically designed to provide advanced training and understanding of the functions of the body, and to serve as the foundation for the study of medicine. The program includes Advanced Medical Physiology, Neurophysiology, Molecular and Cellular Biology, and Translational Physiology.
During her time at ETSU, Brooke worked in Dr. Michelle Chandley’s research lab. Her part of the project is specifically looked at how inflammation may cause changes to the neurons that are used to send signals into the cortex, or into the brain.
“Brooke was an integral part of my research of autism spectrum disorder during her time at ETSU. She had an unwavering commitment to excellence that has now been recognized by Tulane University,” said Dr. Michelle Chandley, Associate Professor in the Department of Health Sciences. “Brooke is a fantastic ambassador of the Health Sciences Program in the College of Public Health and is very deserving of this honor.”
