TNIPH Hosts Information Exchange
The Tennessee Institute of Public Health facilitated an information exchange between a delegation from the “Correctional Career Pathways: A Journey to Hope” program and leadership of the American/Tennessee Medical Association Chapter at the Quillen College of Medicine. The meeting was held at the General Morgan Inn in Greeneville, Tennessee.
The meeting allowed the medical students to learn about the innovative Correctional Career Pathways program, a model workforce development project led by the Greene County Sheriff’s Department and the Greeneville City Schools Adult Education program in partnership with DTR Industries of Tennessee, a local automotive industry. Both groups were interested in exploring ways to enhance the Correctional Career Pathways mission – possibly through supervised mentoring.
The students will work with Sheriff Pat Hankins and Kim Gass of Greeneville City Schools to explore future opportunities to collaborate.
Correctional Career Pathways is supported, in part, by the Tennessee Institute of Public Health with funds from County Health Rankings & Roadmaps program in collaboration with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute. The initiative was launched in 2015 with support from the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development.
