Dr. Ying Li, Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Health in the East Tennessee State University College of Public Health, has been elected to the Environmental Health Science and Protection Accreditation Council.

The mission of the National Environmental Health Science & Protection Accreditation Council (EHAC) is to enhance the education and training of students in environmental health science and protection. The Council develops and applies accreditation guidelines for institutions of higher education that wish to ensure premium quality education and training of environmental health science and protection practitioners.   As of April 2018, twenty-nine undergraduate programs and nine graduate programs are accredited by EHAC.

Each year in February, EHAC conducts elections for new and returning Council Members. Roughly 50-60% of council are academic members and the remaining are practitioner members. Dr. Li was selected from a large group of environmental health professionals as an Academic member. She will serve in the Council for a three-year term beginning in June 2018. As a Council member, she will be attending the annual meeting of the Council, evaluating all self-studies done by programs seeking accreditation or reaccreditation, and participating in site visits to programs that are seeking accreditation or reaccreditation.

“I am greatly honored to be elected to the Council,” stated Dr. Li.  “I am thrilled to serve in this national Council to enhance the education and training of the students in environmental health.”
