Dr. Liang Wang, Assistant Professor in the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology, has coauthored a book chapter in the International Encyclopedia of Public Health. The chapter, entitled “Child Obesity and Health”, is co-authored by Dr. Youfa Wang, Dean of the Global Health Institute of Xi’an Jiaotong University, and Associate Director of the Fisher Institute.
Childhood obesity has been increasing worldwide along with chronic diseases that are closely associated to obesity, such as heart disease and diabetes. The International Encyclopedia of Public Health is a comprehensive guide to the major issues, challenges, methods, and approaches of global public health. With contributions from almost 600 editors and contributors, the seven volume set covers all dimensions of health, from details of specific diseases to the organization of social insurance agencies.
