Dr. Mamudu Selected for Leadership Position in APHA
Dr. Hadii Mamudu, Associate Professor for the Department of Health Services Management and Policy in the East Tennessee State University College of Public Health, has been selected as Chairman of the Policy/Advocacy Committee of the Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs section of the American Public Health Association. As Chairman, he will also serve as a member of the Leadership Council.
The goals of the Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Section of American Public Health Association are to develop, foster and advocate for sound research, policy and practice in the fields of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs epidemiology, prevention and treatment and to enhance communication on these issues. The Section promotes public health policy approaches to prevention and treatment of alcohol, tobacco and other drug problems at all levels. The American Public Health Association is a 145 year old membership organization that brings together individuals and institutions representing all fields of public health.
Dr. Mamudu oversees the Tobacco Policy Research Program at ETSU and has published extensively on issues related to global tobacco policy. His research interests include cardiovascular health management, global health, tobacco control, public health policy, the World Health Organization Framework, the Convention on Tobacco Control, wellness and health promotion, and health services research.
