Oliver selected as Tri-Cities Business Journal’s 40 under forty

Whitney Oliver, Bachelor of Science in Health Administration Program Coordinator and Lecturer in the Department of Health Services Management and Policy in the East Tennessee State University College of Public Health, was selected as one of the honorees in the 2021 class of the Tri-Cities Business Journal's 40 under Forty.
The excerpt on her award states:
Whitney Oliver never envisioned teaching at the college level, but those she has impacted at ETSU are eternally grateful that she did. Whitney coordinates the Bachelor of Science in Health Administration program at ETSU and also is a lecturer who instructors students who aspire to become health professionals. She brings plenty of real-life experience to the role after working at Ballad Health, where she was able to work with a team to reduce expenses associate with length of stay at Johnson City medical Center. That work resulted in over $4 million in savings per year, decreasing the average cost per case by almost 11 percent. Whitney espouses the virtue of true servant leadership to her students in hopes they carry that with them into their professional roles. She puts those words into action by volunteering with a multitude of organizations.
All honoree nominations were accompanied by letters of recommendation from places of employment and service organizations. Nominees are 39 years old or younger, live and work in East Tennessee or Southwest Virginia, are involved in their communities and show the potential to be a leader in the business community during the next decade.
In addition to being recognized at the ceremony, honorees are featured in the December edition of The Business Journal of Tri-Cities Tennessee/Virginia.
