Anthony Peluso

Anthony Peluso, doctoral student in East Tennessee State University’s College of Public Health, has been awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award from the School of Graduate Studies.  This award is given to encourage and recognize excellence in teaching by graduate teaching assistants and graduate teaching associates.

“Mr. Peluso' s enthusiasm, maturity, and passion for his work are evident in the skill he brings to his classroom,” stated Dr. Slawson, Chair of the Department of Community and Behavioral Health.  “He is richly deserving of this award for teaching excellence.”

Nominated students must be currently enrolled graduate teaching assistants or teaching associates or have taught once during the past three semesters.  Mr. Peluso has taught Introduction to Public Health since fall 2018, both online and on-ground, and the affirmations received from his students offer confirmation of his dedication to and passion for teaching.

“As a public health instructor, it is important for me to provide students with information they could not learn in any other course,” stated Mr. Peluso, “And at the very least, give them the opportunity to gain insight into the crux of the pertinent and persistent public health problems affecting people across the globe.”
