COPH Alumnus Lok Pokhrel Awarded Outstanding Reviewer Award

Dr. Lok Pokhrel

A leading Elsevier journal in the field of Environmental Health Science, Science of the Total Environment, has awarded Dr. Lok Pokhrel with an "Outstanding Reviewer Award, 2015" in recognition for his contributions to the journal.  The editors made this selection based primarily on Dr. Pokhrel’s record of reviewing significant number of papers for the journal since 2011 and the quality of the review, which placed Dr. Pokhrel in the top 10th percentile among the reviewers pool worldwide for the journal.

"Reviewing for the peer-reviewed journals is an important aspect to improving the standard of science in the field, and this is something that will benefit the society at large.  Reviewing, however, is the service for free, but it is something I passionately do.  I wasn't expecting to be rewarded, but I thank Elsevier and the editors of Science of the Total Environment for recognizing my contribution that significantly improved the quality of the journal. I am happy I can contribute!" said Dr. Pokhrel.

Dr. Pokhrel is an ETSU Alumnus who graduated with a PhD degree from the College of Public Health's Department of Environmental Health in 2013. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Environmental Health in Temple University's College of Public Health.
