ETSU Pride

On August 21, 2015, the ETSU National Alumni Association announced the College of Public Healths PRIDE display won the ETSU Pride Contest for the fourth consecutive year.  ETSU PRIDE is an annual awareness campaign celebrating the long, proud history of East Tennessee State University and marking the beginning of a new academic year. Activities take place throughout the month of August and span the Tri-Cities region.

The College of Public Health first won the contest in 2012 with a pirate ship display for Buccaneer Pride.  In 2013, the College featured the Universitys dreams of football and a fine arts center and the Colleges dream of expanding Valleybrooks program in a display for the theme Engage the Dream.  Last year, in Family Forever, everyone gathered around the dinner table for a display featuring faculty, staff and alumni from the past and present.

For this years Pride Contest which had no designated theme, the committee decided to focus their efforts on remodeling the student lounge.  The renovation centered on the idea, Pride to us is pride in our students.  New tables, chairs, couches, bean bags, workspaces, charging areas and dry erase boards were purchased and arranged and the lounge and hallway were decorated with streamers, balloons, and a Wall of Pride with pictures of alumni and current students.

Students, faculty, staff and alumni stopped by to view the display and enjoy the lounges new amenities.  One alumna commented, [The] College of Public Health only produces excellence!
