Andrew Robbins Awarded the Jim Gibson Award
Andrew “AJ” Robbins, Bachelor of Science in Microbiology graduating senior, was awarded the Jim Gibson Award. This honor goes to a student who exemplifies leadership in athletics, academics, and service.
“I am honored and thankful to have received this year’s Jim Gibson Award from the ETSU Athletic Department,” stated AJ. “The late Dr. Jim Gibson was chief of radiology and also a professor over at Quillen College of Medicine, but more than anything Jim was a servant leader within our community. Jim truly was committed to the mission of our university – to improve the lives of the people of our region.”
As an active member of the board of directors of the ETSU Foundation for eight years, Dr. Gibson has also lent his talents to support the Hoops Club and the ETSU Pirate Club, as well as being a member of the Distinguished President's Trust. In addition, he currently serves as a member of the board of directors of People's Community Bank in Johnson City.
“I have many people to thank for making my four years as an ETSU student-athlete so incredible. I want to give special thanks to everyone within the College of Public Health, and especially the faculty and staff of the Department of Health Sciences,” continued AJ. “You all are the real superstars, and have prepared me for whatever the future may throw at me. I am really going to miss Lamb Hall, but above all I will miss the people within it. I’m confident and excited for the future of the COPH. As always, go Bucs!”
