COPH Students Elected to SGA
Three students in the ETSU College of Public Health have been elected to serve as officers in the Student Government Association for the 2016-17 school year. On April 15, 2016, the ETSU SGA Election Commission certified Pooja Shah as President. Connor Landers and Tessa Branham were elected as College of Public Health Senators. Pictures of the candidates and statements from each of them are included.
The purpose of the Student Government Association is to provide a means whereby members of the student body may express themselves effectively in the development and maintenance of the University programs which affect their intellectual, physical, social, economic, and spiritual welfare; to assist in the coordination of activities and services for the benefit of the student body and the entire University; and to promote better understanding and cooperation between students, faculty, administration, and others.
Pooja Shah, SGA President
Senior, Health Sciences
Hello! My name is Pooja Shah, and I am incredibly excited to serve ETSU in the coming year as SGA President. I want to take this as an opportunity to benefit this school and students. I love ETSU, and I am thrilled to represent such an outstanding student body!
Connor Landers, College of Public Health Senator
Senior, Health Sciences
“The SGA is an organization that I've been involved with since my first semester at ETSU in 2012. Through it, I've been able to develop as a person, a student, and an activist for the betterment of the university. The SGA, this campus, and the students mean the world to me, so it was a tremendous honor to be elected once again. I look to submit legislation boosting campus safety and student involvement, and as always continue being a vessel through which ETSU students can communicate to the administration.”
Tessa Branham, College of Public Health Senator
Sophomore, Public Health
"I am so excited to have the opportunity to serve the students of this campus we all call home. SGA has allowed me grow as a person as well as help ETSU grow as a campus and the student body grow as a whole. Some of my goals for next semester are to keep students more informed with what is happening in SGA, encourage students and organizations to take advantage of our open forum, and make students a part of SGA, even if they do not hold a position. I am looking forward to serving the students and I hope I get the chance to talk to more faculty and students throughout next semester!"
