College Signs Letter of Intent with Guangdong Pharmaceutical University
In January 2017, Dr. Randy Wykoff, Dean of the College and Dr. Liang Wang, Assistant Professor in the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology visited the School of Public Health at Guangdong Pharmaceutical University (GDPU) in China. Following up on their meeting last year, Deans Randy Wykoff and Yi Yang solidified the relationship between ETSU and GDPU by signing a letter of intent for cooperation.
The letter states that both schools will continue to establish ties of friendship
and cooperation, promote a mutual understanding, and explore academic and research
collaborations, which could be codified in future agreements. Both parties hope that
this agreement begins the establishment of a long-term, mutually beneficial association
between ETSU and
GDPU.
Drs. Wykoff and Wang also toured the Zhaoqing City Center for Disease Control and Prevention, accompanied by Dean Yang and Center Director Jianyi Li. The center has advanced public health detection equipment, and collaborates closely with the Provincial CDC to evaluate food, water, and air quality issues, as well as to control communicable disease outbreaks. It is anticipated that the Center could also participate in future collaborations between ETSU and GDPU.
