Christian Williams to Direct Public Health Program
Dr. Christian Williams, alumna of the Doctor of Public Health program in the College of Public Health at East Tennessee State University, has been selected to lead the newly created Bachelor of Public Health program at Belmont University.
In her new role, Dr. Williams will oversee the first cohort of public health majors at Belmont University as both director of the undergraduate program and as an Assistant Professor in the College of Health Sciences & Nursing. Dr. Williams previously served as the Public Health Competency Coordinator for the Tennessee Department of Health where she was responsible for workforce development and training, served as the program director for the Commissioner’s Fellowship in Public Health, and coordinated all student internships.
Dr. Williams is a 2014 Doctor of Public Health graduate with a concentration in Community Health. She graduated with a Master of Public Health in Public Health Administration in 2009 and a Bachelor of Public Health in Community Health in 2007. During her doctoral education, she served as Academic Health Department Coordinator for Sullivan County Regional Health Department and was instrumental in creating the Community Health Status Assessment, a snapshot of the county for over 150 health indicators.
