Drs. Wykoff and Forsman Appointed to National Public Health Task Force
Dr. Randy Wykoff, Dean of the East Tennessee State University College of Public Health, and Dr. Allan Forsman, Professor in the Department of Health Sciences, were appointed to the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH) Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Task Force.
The task force, co-chaired by Greg Evans of Georgia Southern and Shan Mohammed of Northeastern University, was created under the auspices of the ASPPH Education Committee which is currently chaired by Dr. Wykoff. The inaugural meeting, held in September, focused on developing strategies to accelerate action on evidence-based teaching and learning at member schools and programs. The group brought together selected faculty from across ASPPH—faculty selected because of their background and interest in innovative approaches to teaching. Dr. Forsman represented East Tennessee State University.
The group explored a range of issues including articulating and measuring teaching effectiveness, evaluating and rewarding quality teaching at the individual faculty level, best practices and novel approaches to teaching, and ASPPH’s role in promoting and supporting teaching excellence.
