Bike Share and Yoga Mats Available at the Medical Library

four Buc Bikes bicycles in the bicycle rack outside the Medical Library

The Medical Library has yoga mats and bike-share bicycles available for check-out to ETSU students, faculty, and staff. To borrow any of these items, bring your valid ETSU ID card to the medical library during regular, staffed hours (8 am to midnight on weekdays, 10 am-midnight Saturdays, 1pm to midnight Sundays).

We have ~20 yoga mats available for checkout. Bring your ID and borrow a mat for a day for use at home, outside, or in the library.

We also have four "Buc Bikes," bicycles from Campus Recreation's bicycle share program. The bikes are multispeed and can be checked out for a day at a time. Checkout also includes a helmet, bike lock, and bike lock key.

Before checking out a bike, you must pass the bicycle safety training quiz from ETSU's Environmental Health & Safety. Visit their website, click the Login button on the lefthand side,  and find and complete the "Bicycle Safety" module. Print your passing certificate and bring it with you - you will need to show this certificate every time you check out a bike. Bring your certificate to the library's service desk, where you'll need to show it and your ETSU ID; you'll also need to sign a waiver form.[As of September 2018, the safety training quiz is no longer required by Campus Rec]

To check out a bike, bring your valid, swipable ETSU ID to the library's service desk during normal hours. You'll need to sign a waiver form and check out a bike. We advise that you give yourself a little time the first time you come to checkout a bike, and don't try to do it in a rush. When done, return your bike to the same bike rack outside the medical library (VA building 4) and return the helmet, lock, and key to library staff.

In addition to these borrowable items, the library basement includes a room with several spin bikes and hand weights for in-library use. These items are provided as part of the library's committment to supporting our students, faculty, staff as whole people - we hope this equipment can help you relax, blow off steam, and stay well!
