On Thursday, May 12 the Heritage of Healthcare in Appalachia Consortium presents a symposium, "Early 20th Century Diversity in Healthcare." Our history of medicine librarian, Martha Whaley, has been a key player in organizing this event, which will feature speakers on diversity and equality in healthcare professions. 

The event will take place from 1:00 - 5:00 pm at the Reece Museum, located at 363 Stout Drive, Johnson City, TN at ETSU.

  • 3:50 PM  Reception and signing of Dr. Pollitts book:  African-American and Cherokee Nurses in Appalachia: A History (1900-1965)

Dr. Pollitt will sign her book African American and Cherokee Nurses in Appalachia: A History, 1900-1965 at a reception beginning at 4:00 p.m.

This event is free and open to the public.
