Scheduled Elevator Outage in the Medical Library

The elevator in the Medical Library is expected to be out of service for refurbishment from approximately March 26th through June 15th, 2018. It is our goal to accommodate all visitors who may need assistance accessing services and personnel across the three floors of the library. To that end, we have the following plans in place:

  • Library staff will retrieve books, journals, and other items from other floors as needed. Please ask at the library's front desk and a staff member will assist you.
  • Four computers are in place on the first floor of the library as the second floor computer lab may be inaccessible to some visitors.
  • There is no printer on the first floor, and the second floor printer may be inaccessible to some visitors. If needed, please ask the front desk library staff to print items for you and they will use a first floor staff printer to do so.
  • Although the basement is accessible via ramp to the card swipe door, this door is not active during "normal" daytime hours (usually 8am to midnight). If you need something retrieved from the basement such as a vending machine item or your food from the basement fridge, please ask the front desk staff. If there is a need, we may consider temporarily adding a minifridge and microwave to the first floor lobby; please contact director Rachel Walden if this is something you need.
  • All three floors of the library have restrooms.
  • Meetings with Library, Biomedical Communications, IT or other Learning Resources staff can be scheduled for the first floor conference room rather than second floor meeting or office space. If you notify the Learning Resources staff member you are meeting with in advance, they can reserve this conference room.
  • Library staff have all received communications about these possible needs and the expectation to accommodate visitors affected by the elevator outage.

If you have any further needs, suggestions, feedback on your experience, or any other comments, please contact Associate Dean and library director Rachel R. Walden (waldenrr@etsu.edu).
