Virtual Reality Lab Hours for Fall 2019
Need to study anatomy or just take a break? Virtual Reality Lab Hours in the Medical Library for fall 2019 have been posted and sessions can now be reserved!
The Virtual Reality Lab features the 3D Organon VR Anatomy software which can be used
to explore and review body structures in a virtual environment. For groups of students,
a large-screen monitor in the lab can be used to allow additional participants to
see what is in the VR headset. The 3D Organon VR Anatomy software provides anatomic
review of all body systems/structures, manipulation/highlighting of the anatomy, text
descriptions for body structures, and animations of bones and muscles.
Additional software has also been added for study breaks and relaxation, including:
- Guided Meditation VR: guided meditation software for breaks/stress relief; meditation scenarios in virtual natural environments
- Beat Saber: rhythm game for fun and stress relief - move your arms with the beat while music plays
- Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes!: for fun and team communication skills, both sides have incomplete information and have to share it effectively to win the game; requires at least two players
- The Gallery (episodes 1 and 2): puzzle questing game
- EscapeVR: The Basement: virtual escape room
Sessions can be reserved in half-hour blocks via this online reservation system, and consecutive blocks can be reserved when available. Available half-hour slots are:
- Tuesdays, 1:30 to 3:30 pm
- Wednesdays, 1:30 to 3:30 pm
- Thursdays, 10:00 to 11:00 am and 1:00 to 2:30 pm
The library can sometimes accommodate special time slot requests; please email carrollmo@etsu.edu or medref@etsu.edu at least two full weekdays in advance for consideration. Faculty wishing to incorporate
VR tools into their classroom or create flipped classroom videos using the software
may also contact us via either of those email addresses.
