Student pharmacists help serve expectant mothers in the community

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 30, 2022) – An East Tennessee State University Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy student organization recently created care packages for women in the community.
The college’s Christian Pharmacists Fellowship International (CPFI) chapter earned a $450 Hands and Feet grant, which they used to create care packages in conjunction with Agape Women's Services in Johnson City to help expectant mothers through the process of pregnancy and early motherhood. The packages include diapers, wipes, vitamins, supplements, baby bottles, pacifiers, and Bibles. The student pharmacists had a drive at the college to help collect items, and local Walgreens leadership provided supply donations, as well.
“Agape means unconditional love, and that perfectly aligns with what we represent as a student organization,” said Tabitha Sineath (’24), a member of CPFI, a worldwide ministry of individuals working in all areas of pharmaceutical service and practice. “We hope that our partnership with them to provide both education and care for expectant mothers will help foster not only the education within them, but allow us to utilize our skills as student pharmacists.”
Agape was thankful to receive the donation to help serve women in our community.
“The baskets of donations and wipes collected help alleviate financial stresses that can occur with a new baby,” said Liesl Wright, Education Coordinator at Agape. “This allows each mom to focus more on her baby without the distraction of where will the necessary supplies come from.”
