PEER-E2 grant awarded

Puerto Rico trip

The Tennessee Board of Regents has awarded the college nearly $50,000 to fund the PEER-E2 program for another year.

PEER-E2, which stands for Promoting Engagement, Excellence, and Retention for English as a Second Language Students, began in September 2020 under Dr. Michele Williams. The 2022-2023 PEER-E2 program will consist of six main interventions:

  • Specialized ESL pharmacy tutors
  • A weekly language lab facilitated by an ESL instructor
  • A peer support group
  • Culture and language exchange events
  • Focused recruiting of ESL students into the pharmacy program including a recruitment trip to Puerto Rico.
  • Attending the Tennessee Society of Student Pharmacists (TSSP) Annual Meeting in February 2023.
