Reaching Beyond Our Region
Our study abroad and wide array of experiential rotation opportunities prepare you to make an even bigger impact. Students have the opportunity to participate in global health outreach around the world. Student pharmacists have provided healthcare as part of interprofessional teams to underserved patients locations such as Nicaragua, Ecuador, Guatemala, and Belize. In addition, numerous APPE students participate in month-long experiences each year at domestic facilities associated with the Department of Health & Human Services’ Indian Health Service. From Cherokee, NC to Whiteriver, AZ to Juneau, AK, our students contribute to the health and wellbeing of American Indians and Alaska Natives through these unique experiences. Gatton students also have worked with national organizations, including the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Food & Drug Administration (FDA), Pharmacy Quality Alliance (PQA), and other professional organizations and associations, both at the regional and national level.
