The Adult Learner Success standard is designed to incentivize institutions to improve services for adult learners. This standard directs institutions to enhance the quality of adult student services in an effort to increase the enrollment, retention, and completion of adult learners at the institution. Through an institutional self-assessment and engagement with adult students, institutions will create a plan to address strengths and areas needing improvement. The institution is required to develop measurable and achievable objectives to improve the services and experiences of adult students and increase adult student success. Institutions will also be evaluated on their success in improving retention and completion rates for adult learners.
For the purposes of this standard, adult learners are described as undergraduate students, 25 years of age or older. ETSU will use an institutionally developed survey which will be administered in the spring semester each year. Additionally, ETSU will use the Adult Learner Inventory, administered by Ruffalo Noel-Levitz, and the Institutional Self-Assessment Inventory, both of which will be purchased through CAEL and administered during the fall semester in years 2 (2016-2017) and 5 (2019-2020).
