Do I have to use Banner 9? Can I just keep using Banner 8?
You can use Banner 8 until spring. And, you can switch back and forth between versions. Use Banner 9 when you have time so that you can become familiar with the changes, and if needed, use Banner 8 if you have to access or update something quickly and don’t have time to worry about new keystroke shortcuts.
-
Why is this happening?
Support for Banner 8 expires on December 31, 2018.
-
How do I access Banner 9?
There are 2 links shown above. One is for production - this is live Banner data - where you do your REAL work.
The other is the testing instance - this data is not live, you can add, delete and change information as much as you want - it will not change REAL Banner data. Banner 9 Admin Pages is still only accessible from the ETSU network.
-
Do I still need to use Internet Explorer and Java?
No - Banner 9 does not require Java and will work in any browser.
-
What is changing in Banner?
Only the INB user interface is changing, functionality is not changing. It will be cleaner, have a more modern look, and be mobile friendly. The database is not changing. Self-Service Banner will be upgraded later.
-
So if there is no Java window, where will Banner run?
Banner 9 will run in the same browser window from which it was launched.
-
Will there be training for Banner 9?
Various training sessions, including schedule building and advisement, will be offered. Check back here later for more information. You may be able to find other training videos on YouTube.
