Vision, Mission and Goals
VISION
Our vision was to design a STEM Platform School to serve as a center for STEM innovation for Northeast Tennessee that capitalized on robust STEM assets and disseminates pedagogical practices throughout the region. A sustainable, synchronized learning network of partners with the Platform School and the region’s STEM assets, including LEA’s, IEH’s, business and industry and non-profits have amplified and accelerated the reach and impact of STEM education in the region for all students to develop the intellectual capital for future careers and economic vitality for the global marketplace.
MISSION
The ETSU Hub and partners have served to ensure the development and success of the STEM School and to further develop a national model of STEM teaching and learning. The ETSU STEM Hub has received and distributed knowledge, but also worked to initiate a series of changes that redefines the role of teachers and school administrators, and introduces new roles for stakeholders to work collaboratively to redesign STEM education. These include students, parents, higher education, broader community, and business and industry.
GOALS
We have established the Northeast STEM Academy to serve a demographically represented student population that enhances student STEM literacy. Hub Support the STEM Platform School; Increase ETSU Hub to deliver on regional goals through plan, develop and implement communications, including a website, materials, workshops, etc.; Connect regional STEM assets with the TSIN and with regional and statewide STEM initiatives.
