Innovative Educator Workshop
The 2022 Innovative Educator Workshops will consist of four workshops being taught by instructors from ETSU, the Kingsport City School System and the Johnson City School System
The K-5 Coding Workshop 3.0 will be held from May 9- May 13, 2022, via Zoom, from 3:00pm - 4:30pm. Dr. Ryan A. Nivens (ETSU) and Dr. Jame H. Price (ETSU) will be the instructors for the project. There will be number of (?) teachers that will attend the five (5) day workshop. Dr.'s Nivens and Price will create a tour guide of various coding sites that the teachers will use as they explore a different coding site each day. Coding Workshop Resource List. The Hacking Project-Based Learning Workshop will be held from May 16th - June 3rd, 2022, via zoom, from 8:00am - 4:30pm. Shanna Hensley and Sara Leimkuhler will be the instructors for this project. There will be a number of teachers that will be attending the ten (10) day workshop. Shanna and Sara will be teaching the workshop in a "Canvas by Instructure Course" by using the book Hacking Project Based Learning. PBL Workshop Flyer |
The Synthetic Biology Workshop will be held from June 20 - June 24, 2022, from 8:30am - 12:30pm each day at Dobyns-Bennett High School, from 8:30am - 5:00pm. Evie LaFollette and Amanda Blackburn from Kingsport City Schools will be the instructors for the project. There will be several teachers that will be attending the five (5) day workshop. The teachers will be attending from several school districts. The workshop will be taught by using the BioBuilder textbook. Synthetic Biology Workshop flyer. |
The Epidemiology Educator Workshop will be held from June 6 - June 10, 2022, at ETSU Warf-Pickel Hall room 511, from 9:00am - 4:00pm. Christopher Bowen and Rachel Brouillette from Johnson City Schools will be the instructors for the project. There will be several teachers that will attend the five (5) day workshop and earn 15 Professional Development Hours. The attending teachers will be from the following counties; Greene County, Hawkins County, Jefferson County, Johnson City, Johnson County, Kingsport City, Sullivan County, Unicoi County, and Washington County. The teachers were from several school districts including; Meigs County District, McMinn County Schools, Greeneville City Schools, Arlington Community Schools, Lauderdale County Schools and Metro-Nashville Public Schools. The workshop was taught by using the BioBuilder textbook. |

The K-5 Coding Workshop Workshop was held from June 8 - June 12, 2020 via Zoom from 9:30am - 11:30am. Dr. Ryan A. Nivens (ETSU) and Dr. Jame H. Price (ETSU) were the instructors for the project. There were fifty-one (51) teachers that attended the five (5) day workshop. The teachers that attended received a monetary stipend of $150.00. January 14 - February 15, 2019 : Dr. Laura E. Robertson (CUAI) taught the SCED 5610-001 [CRN#15348] STEM Theory & Pedagogy. Teachers who participated in this workshop/course earned three college credit hours. |
May 13 - May 31, 2019: Dr. Ryan A. Nivens (CUAI) taught the SCED 5620-901 [CRN# 51713] Bridging STEM in Ed & Business. Teachers who participated in this workshop/course earned three college credit hours. |
