The Overlooked in Appalachia multi-media magazine project was born out of a desire to cover the issues that face
our community and region, specifically the Appalachian Highlands, The Blue Ridge Mountains,
and Greater Appalachia. In its inaugural year it won third place for the Associated
Press of Tennessee Feature Writing competition. This project is student led, but accepts
submissions from students and community members (overlookedinappalachia@gmail.com).
It publishes in Spring and Fall.
