Dr. Karen Cummings-Lilly received her doctorate in clinical social work and leadership
from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She received her Master’s degree from
San Diego State with a concentration in mental health. Dr. Cummings-Lilly has more
than seventeen years of teaching social work at the bachelor’s level and more than
six years of adjunct experience at the master’s level. She has provided direct clinical
services in outpatient behavioral health settings for children, adolescents and adults.
Additionally, she has provided clinical supervision and program management in both
inpatient and outpatient settings. Dr. Cummings-Lilly has worked as a clinical director
as well as a program supervisor. She has more than 30 years of combined clinical,
management and teaching experience. Her areas of interest include mental health, Appalachian
microaggressions, social issues and strengths based management, and supervision.
